A few words a day
Each evening at a time you choose, Mood Textapp texts one question: how are you feeling today? Reply with a number from 1 to 10 and a few words. After a couple of weeks it starts pointing out patterns, like which days tend to be low and what you mentioned on those days.
Mood Textapp is an AI. Its replies are written by software, so it can get things wrong. It is not for emergencies or medical care, and it is for adults 18 and over.
There is nothing to install, no account to create, and nothing to memorize. It works on any phone that can text.
How it works
- Text the number above to start. The check-in defaults to 9pm.
- Reply to each check-in with a number and whatever is true. "7, fine", "3, drained, argued with my sister", anything.
- Ask what patterns it has noticed, any time, and you get a two-week summary of your mood and the themes that keep coming up.
What you can ask it to do
- Log a check-in: a number 1-10 and your own words. It may ask one short follow-up, never more.
- Show your patterns: your two-week average and the feelings that come up most.
- Move the evening check-in, like "check in at 10pm instead".
- Stop at any time by texting STOP. Text START to come back.
What it is and is not
Mood Textapp is a tracker, not therapy and not a person. If a message suggests you are in crisis, it replies with the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and 911 for immediate danger, and says plainly that it cannot help beyond that. Your entries are private. Any comparison figures are averages across many users and are never shown until enough people have contributed.
Why text instead of an app
Mood apps get opened for a week and then forgotten. A text arrives on its own, and answering takes less time than finding the app.
Questions people ask
Is a real person texting me? No. Mood Textapp is an AI: its replies are written by software, and it says so.
Do I need to download anything or make an account? No. It works on any phone that can text, with a U.S. number, and your number is your account.
Is my number safe? We never sell or rent your information, and we don't use your messages for advertising. Messages are deleted 12 months after your last text. Details are in our privacy policy.
How do I stop? Text STOP at any time and the messages stop. To have your data deleted sooner, email contact@textapp.co.
